Red Lentil Soup with Bacon


  1. Bacon 200 g
  2. Carrot 160 g
  3. Onions 180 g
  4. Large sweet pepper 300 g
  5. Tomato paste 2 tbsp
  6. Dried paprika 1 tbsp
  7. Red lentils 450 g
  8. Water 2 L
  9. Bay leaf 1 pc.
  10. Salt 1 tbsp
  11. Ground black pepper 1/2 tsp
  12. Red chili pepper 1/4 tsp
  13. Vegetable oil 1 tbsp
  14. Fresh green onions 10 g

Step 1.

Cut the bacon, onions, carrots and bell peppers into small pieces.

Step 2

Preheat the stewpan with 1 tbsp. vegetable oil and fry the bacon over medium heat for 3 minutes.

Step 3

Remove the bacon from the pan and add the onions, carrots, bell peppers and fry over medium heat for 3 minutes.

Step 4

Add tomato paste, sweet paprika and continue to fry for another 2 minutes over medium heat.

Step 5

Add lentils, washed in cold water, salt, paprika, black pepper, bay leaf and water. Bring to a boil and close the lid, cook for 30 minutes over low heat.

Step 6

Take out the bay leaf, put 1/4 tsp. red pepper and turn off the stove.

Step 7

Grind the soup with a hand blender and add spring onions.

Step 8

When serving, sprinkle soup with fried bacon and green onions.
